Online Shopping

The girls are no longer saving up for an iPad (they decided they didn't want one, even though they were so close to their goal!). Instead they are using their allowance money to do a bit of online shopping. Their new goal: collecting Mario character plushes.

They have a list of all the characters they want, and whenever they've saved up a bit of money, they buy a few stuffies at a time. Daddy always helps them find good deals on ebay.

The best part? Checking the mail, of course! The girls love their daily walk to the mailbox to check if any of their items have arrived. Who doesn't enjoy getting stuff in the mail?!

On this particular day the girls got two stuffies at once (what a treat!):

Here is their collection so far. It's a big family!

The latest addition

Once their collection is complete (if ever?), they plan on making videos with their stuffies, including lots of different scenes, stories, and characters (all of which have already been planned out. I have been hired as the videographer!). Go Mario!

March Break Recap

March break was great this year! In addition to my birthday and regular weekly activities (groceries, workouts, cleaning), we spent lots of  time relaxing at home, doing puzzles, going sledding, and having a couple of playdates. No major plans, which is what we like best.

The girls got into the face paint too

The one organized activity we signed the girls up for was a March break program called "Snot & Whatnot" at the Museum of Health Care. It was a 2-hour, hands-on, family-friendly event where we learned some medical history and neat facts. It wasn't as good as we expected, but interesting nonetheless.

Lastly the girls wanted to try bunk beds again, so we took the opportunity to do a major clean-up of Jessi's room before setting up the beds.

What a mess!

Emily created a 'fort' out of her new empty space

Good night?

As usual the bunk beds didn't last more than a couple of days (and Emily didn't sleep a single night in the bed), so by the end of March break everyone was back in their rooms, with a bit of furniture rearrangement instead.

New bed placement

Emily really wanted to keep the 'fort' she created in the corner of her room, so we found a way to make it work!

The girls are happy to be back at school and I'm enjoying getting back into our routines. It's crazy to think that there are only three months left of school before summer break!

A Beautiful Birthday

My 35th birthday started out just the way I like it: with cake for breakfast! Steve and the girls also greeted me with a big hug, a lovely card, and a couple of gifts.

I think she likes the cake!

After lunch we headed to Lemoine Point for a wintry walk. Thankfully the weather was mild and we all had a chance to feed a few birds.

A nuthatch came to visit me

One of Steve's gifts to me was a piece of paper that said "Look in the calendar." To my surprise, he signed me up for private ukulele lessons at Long & McQuade! And I had my first lesson that day! I was pretty nervous, but managed to practice and plan a few things before I left.

Heading to my first lesson!

My 30-minute lesson was fun! My teacher was very friendly and definitely surprised by my abilities after just one year (I think she teaches mostly kids ;)).

The fun did not stop there: I had some quality time with each daughter, replied to lots of birthday messages/emails/texts, ate a delicious pork chop dinner, had a long Skype chat with Sarah, and enjoyed late-night stovetop popcorn while watching TV with Steve. So much to be grateful for!
