Always, Sometimes, Never

Here's a fun survey going around blog land. Thought I'd join in too!

I always...
... eat with a small (dessert) fork.
... smell my blanket if I'm in the same room as it.
... think about the future.
... pack way too much, regardless of how long our trip is.
... am so grateful for the life I am living.
... make sure the doors are locked before I go to bed.
... say please, thank you, and excuse me.
... love weddings.
... smile when Emily smiles. Even when she's being bad (really need to work on that one!).
... floss every night.

I sometimes...
... spend far too much time writing/editing a blog post.
... don't flush the toilet when Emily is sleeping.
... drink milk straight out of the bag.
... can confidently say that I like the way I look.
... wish my stomach could look the way it did before pregnancy.
... care too much about what other people think.
... give Steve the silent treatment.
... spend way more on a gift than I intended to because I think it's the perfect gift.
... can't believe how lucky I am.
... think and worry about death.

I never...
... drink coffee.
... know what to say when people pass away.
... fall asleep easily.
... watch or enjoy horror movies.
... remember people's names after I meet them for the first time.
... learned much about world history and geography.
... swear. I use "nicer" words like shoot, darn, and crap!
... win at trivia/word games.
... can stand the smell of cigarette smoke.
... yell when I'm angry.

I'd Like to Thank...

I just won the Versatile Blogger Award from Cee at Smookie Style!

The rules for winning this award:
  • Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award.
  • Share 7 things about yourself.
  • Pass the award along to 15 other bloggers who you recently discovered and think are fabulous.
  • Contact the bloggers you chose and let them know about the award.
So here are my 7 things:

1) French is my first language, but I feel more comfortable speaking English. I also speak a bit of German!

2) This Saturday (Sept 25) marks the 10-year anniversary of Steve asking me out on our first date! Today (Sept 22) marks the 10-year anniversary of our first kiss!! [gasp!]

3) I love homemade (stove-top) popcorn.

4) I sleep with a blanket that I've had since I was 12 years old. I love the way it smells and I basically fall asleep smelling it. (In other words, I never grew out of using a "blankie". This blanket replaced the one I used from ages 0-12 ha!)

5) I never used to cry at movies. But since I was pregnant/had a baby, I cry at the most random ones, like Shrek 3.

6) At a restaurant, I always sit with my back to the wall. If I'm facing a wall I feel very uncomfortable/claustrophobic.

7) I'm 5'1" and my husband is 6'3" tall.
Now the problem is that, although I think all the blogs I read are fabulous, I don't have 15 of them and most of them don't know me or know that I read their blogs. So I'm going to have to do the general "if you read this and feel like playing along, then consider yourself awarded!".

    Thanks, Cee!

    Master of...

My blog friend Carrie has (unofficially) tagged me for this award. I thought it would be fun to do as my first survey-type blog post.

Here are the rules for the award:
    1. List 6 things you are a master of.
    2. Pass it on to 6 bloggers you think are masters of friendship and make blogging awesome.

So here it goes! I'm a master of...

    1) Mathematics. Literally. I have a master's degree in mathematics! That being said, I'm not actually a walking calculator... There's a lot more to math than just crunching numbers. My research was in a specific field of mathematics called Graph Theory, so I would consider myself to be a master of that topic.

    2) Hosting Dinners. I love hosting dinners for our family and friends. I think I'm pretty good at planning a menu, shopping for and prepping ingredients, tidying the house and setting the table, and watching everyone devour the final product. We've been told numerous times that our dinners are great successes!

    3) Not Sleeping Well. I've never been a good sleeper. It takes me forever to fall asleep, often because I have things running through my head (like a song) or I can't get comfortable. Once I'm asleep I move a lot and wake up very easily. I'm a mess! My "good night's sleeps" are few and far between (especially over the last year).

    4) Singing to my Baby. I sing all day long. Whether it's singing about waking up, washing your hair, playing with or tidying toys, wiping your hands, taking a bath, etc... I have a song for it! I also love singing kids' songs throughout the day and a nice lullaby at night. Note: Emphasis should be placed on being a master of singing to my baby, not singing -- ha!

    5) Worrying About my Baby. Is she eating enough? Is she eating too much? Does she get enough sleep? Too much? Is that an ear infection? What's that noise? Should she be talking now? Why is she crying? Is she sick? In pain?... You get the idea. If it's not one thing, it's another.

    6) Not Keeping up With the News and Politics. I never watch the news or read the paper, so I really don't know much about what's going on in the world, especially when it comes to politics. Like Simon and Garfunkel once said, "I get the news I need on the weather report". And if it's really important I'm sure I'll hear about it from family and friends.

That's it! I'm only tagging two people (because the other blogs I read are Carrie's friends and have already been tagged), but these two definitely deserve the award for being masters of friendship and making blogging awesome! I'm tagging:

    Amy
    Yetta

Have fun! (Well if you feel like it, of course!)
