From Tree to Table

Delicious Apple Crisp

We took a shot at apple picking this year! We were a bit late in the season though, so the picking was light and the girls couldn't reach most of the remaining 'good' apples. It's also a shame that Emily doesn't eat apples and Jessica is partial to certain varieties. Ha! The girls had fun nonetheless, and Steve and I really enjoyed our apple crisp!

Weekend Randoms

Emily didn't have school on Friday, so it's a long weekend over here! It's been very low key -- just hanging around the house, playing outside, heading to the park, and getting new books at the library. Just the way we like it!

Stick bug on our patio door!

Today we watched Tangled for the first time. The girls weren't really fans of it (Jessica was scared of the evil mother and Emily said she didn't think the movie was funny). The girls have moved on from their Frozen obsession; their current favourite movie is The Lion King!

Memory Lane: Monte Carlo 2008

Time for another stroll down Memory Lane. You might have noticed that most of our trips so far (Vegas 2006, Bahamas 2007, Vegas 2007Bahamas 2008) have been for poker. This trip was no exception. In April 2008, we travelled to Monte Carlo, Monaco (my first trip overseas!) so that Steve could play in the EPT Grand Final.

We stayed at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, since that's where the tournament was held.

This trip is very near and dear to my heart because it's where I first met Amy. Since our husbands (then boyfriends/fiancés) were both on Team PokerStars and were busy most of the day, Amy and I struck up a conversation and decided to get together for lunch. We instantly hit it off and found out that we had a lot in common.

The remainder of the trip was spent getting to know each other, walking around the resort, swimming at the pool, hanging out in the Players' Lounge, and spending time with the boys. There was no shortage of ways to keep us entertained!

Amy, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship...

My Turn

Round 2 of the stomach bug starts with me! Not a pleasant way to wake up in the middle of the night...

Today will likely consist of lots of sitting/lying around, willing myself to feel better.

Sick Day

Poor Emily woke up with a stomach bug in the middle of the night and hasn't been able to keep anything down since. It's been a lying-on-the-couch-watching-tv kind of day. Our hope is that it passes quickly and doesn't spread to other family members!

And here's a funny coincidence: on this day last year I also blogged about Emily being sick! I guess it's that time of year.

The Swings

Look who just got swings in their backyard!

... and a sand pit too!

The girls are really loving the new activities in the backyard! They ask to go out and play each morning and evening. We need to take advantage of it before the weather gets too cold!

And in case you needed proof, here's a video of the girls having fun on the swings:
