Memory Lane: Bahamas 2009

In January 2009 we were back in the Bahamas for our annual trip to the PCA poker tournament. Some of the pictures in this blog post might seem familiar because it's on this trip that we found out I was pregnant with Emily. What an exciting and memorable time!

Like I mentioned here, a couple of days into the trip I started feeling nauseous. I took a pregnancy test and that's when Steve and I found out that we were going to have a baby!

That day we went out for a fancy dinner with our friends. I remember really craving lobster and I was crushed when it was not on the menu!

We managed to do a few fun activities at the Atlantis Resort that year: swimming with dolphins, playing at the beach, and participating in a 'Wives and Girlfriends of PokerStars' fun tournament. Guess who won??

Eventually the pregnancy sickness really hit and I spent the rest of our vacation throwing up, lying in bed, and being grumpy. I remember saltines and ginger ale being my saviors for the plane ride home...

Steve went back to the Bahamas in 2010, but this was my last trip there. Before we had kids, we totally thought we would keep going every year, family in tow, but reality kicked in and we quickly realized that travelling with fussy babies/toddlers is not easy! We've toyed with the idea of going back to the Bahamas in January 2016 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Steve's tournament win... We'll see!

Our Valentine's Day

The celebrating didn't stop with Jessica and Emily; we celebrated together and with family yesterday.

First we had some family snow-shoveling time -- lots of snow this weekend!

And finally, for our Valentine's Day evening, we had a nice family supper followed by snuggling on the couch to watch a movie after the kids were in bed.
