Construction - Week 24

So this is it! The countdown is over; now we just wait for the weather to warm up so we can complete the exterior. The only things missing in the interior are the kitchen countertops (and sinks/faucets) and a few light fixtures that are on back order.

Week 24

The main items this week were the powder room plumbing and shower glass enclosure. They also did some cleaning which included removing all the plastic from the windows. So nice to see a clear view out the windows now! We can even see the small creek running behind our house.

Master bedroom view

Powder room plumbing

Ensuite shower glass
(handles on door still missing)

Shower niche for soaps/shampoos

This soap tray is actually a (planned) footrest for shaving!

Kids' shower tiling/plumbing complete

We are still loving just running around on the carpets!

p.s. A very Happy Easter to all! Will be posting about our Easter celebrations soon.

Sisterhood - 22 Months In

The cuteness factor has gone up significantly with these two girls! They play really well together and have the sweetest little conversations. Here are other notes about Emily and Jessica's sibling relationship at 22 months:

- I've lost count of the number of nicknames the girls have for each other. It ranges from sissy to Fairy names to whatever they can come up with. On some rare occasions, Emily will call her sister "Jessi" and Jessica will call her sister "Emi-yee".

- They are spending more and more time together, which has been so nice! Steve and I are always happy when we can cook or clean up the kitchen together without (too many) interruptions.

- Emily is quick to defend her little sister, but also quick to tell on her. She likes to point out when Jessica disobeys (even though we're right there and already know she's disobeying).

- Emily does not typically allow Jessica in her room. In the event that Jessica is allowed to enter, Emily has one simple rule for her: don't touch any of my things. Emily really doesn't like the thought of Jessica taking/using her stuff!

- On the other hand, Jessica loves having her big sis in her room. One of their favourite activities is for Jessi to sit in her bed while Emily hands her all kinds of books/toys.

- We are past the days of hitting and hair-pulling. Now when the girls fight over anything they just both start screaming or crying. We are encouraging them to use their words to solve their problems, but for now crying is their go-to response.

- A funny comparison that I've noticed recently is that Emily is quite the messy eater (always gets lots of food on her face, hands, and the floor), whereas Jessica is relatively clean. It's pretty funny and somewhat surprising given Emily is 21 months older!

- Emily loves her daddy and Jessica loves her Mommy. They both get a little jealous when one is with the other parent, though Emily displays the jealousy a lot more than Jessica. Emily will stretch out her arms and whine "Daddy! Daddy! I want Daddy!" when Steve tends to Jessica.

- Some of their favourite activities to do together are puzzles, stickers, drawing, reading, Legos, and bouncing on Daddy's knees.

- Jessica really looks up to big sister. Like she mentioned in her interview, she's a big copycat and does everything Emily does. It's so funny to see Emily run into a room and say something, only to have Jessica follow suit and do/say the exact same thing. The funniest is when Emily starts to take off her clothes and Jessica stops whatever she's doing and strips down too, like it's what they're supposed to be doing. Ha! Both girls love to be naked.

- Their relationship has grown so much over the last four months and I just know it's going to get stronger as they get older. So often we hear them giggling together, being silly with each other, and helping each other out. It makes us smile every time.

House for Sale!

We are officially on the market! You can see the virtual tour for our home here.

I also took numerous pictures of our house when it was all cleaned up; here's a sneak peek at what's for sale.

This is why I never do colour on walls -- I tried blue in the master bedroom and hate it!
This is my least favourite room in our house :p

Hoping the next few weeks go smoothly!
