Last Day of School

Yesterday was Emily and Jessi's last day of school! They are officially done grades 7 and 5.

2016-2022

Excited to be packing the last school lunches

It was so fun to see them thriving at school this year with great report cards, awesome teachers, and lasting memories. Jessi's favourite part of grade 5 was watching chicks hatch from eggs and caring for the chickens for weeks! The best part of Emily's grade 7 year was her teacher introducing them to Survivor and incorporating parts of the show into their activities.

Emily had plenty of treats on her last day at school (donuts and pizza!); Jessi and I had to wait until after school to enjoy our traditional treat of Costco ice cream (along with her BFF).

Celebrate!

The last few days of school were quite the whirlwind since I volunteered to decorate and help out with the grade 8 graduation. That meant many hours of preparation and three straight days at the school. Even Emily and Jessi volunteered to help! The event was a success and now it's time for a well-deserved break.

It Was Father's Day, by the Way!

The girls and I had a good laugh when we realized, three hours into Sunday, that it was Father's Day. Oops! We scrambled to make a card and presented it to Daddy just in time for lunch. Sorry Feebs!

Fortunately Steve is very forgiving and not a big fan of holidays in the first place. Celebrations continued at my parents', including a delicious steak dinner and an early birthday party for cousin Caleb. Here's to all the dads!

A favourite Sunday pastime

Love ya!

Snug!

This week we had the pleasure of visiting Grammy's cottage at Snug Harbour... twice! It's a perfect dose of summer fun, complete with a canoe ride, lots of time at the beach, and some yummy snacks with the family.

 A great June tradition!

Nathalieland Update - House/Garden/Swim/Communion

Goodbye Mudroom View. Construction next door is moving along -- the most recent update being that we no longer have a view outside our mudroom window! Sad, but I guess it was only a matter of time. I'll be interested to see what colour exterior they choose for their house (since we'll be starting at it a lot from our windows).

First Garden Harvest(s). We have started reaping rewards from our garden, mainly rhubarb, lettuce, and kale. The rest of our crops are pretty slow going so far. Sadly I haven't kept up with my morning routine from last year (I choose my morning runs instead). Steve has been consistent with watering; I've just been slacking with weeding. This year I also planted some herbs, sprouts, and chard in pots on our deck. It's been nice for easy access!

First Swim. Speaking of firsts, on the last day in May we enjoyed our first swim in our neighbour's (heated) pool! What a lovely way to end our walks with Lucy.

Lorelei's First Communion. Another event that happened in May that I didn't get a chance to blog about was Lorelei's First Communion! It was nice getting all dressed up and celebrating together with friends and family. The cutest part (for me): Jessi's feet are big enough to fit into my old high heels, so she was wearing the ones I wore on my wedding day!!!

Congrats!
