Strawberry Picking

It was time for our yearly tradition of strawberry picking! We seem to have a knack for going on cool, overcast days, which is just perfect. This year it was a big family affair: my parents, sister, and her family joined in the fun. Unfortunately Emily is 'off' berries right now, so while she enjoyed picking them, she didn't have a single bite. Jessica had a few, but the berries weren't quite as sweet as we'd like them to be. We still managed to make some delicious strawberry crisp and a strawberry salad, and kept a few for freezing and fresh eating.

It was a busy Saturday morning at Fruition Berry Farm! Luckily they have a small play structure area, so the girls were entertained with slides and cars while we waited for our tractor ride.

Summer Break Begins

We spent the first day of summer break enjoying nature (and food) at Grammy's cottage once again. What a beautiful day!

Catch of the day...

Goodbye Kindergarten!

All the parents gathered in the gym yesterday to celebrate the senior kindergarten students moving on to grade one. Much like two years ago, Emily was not in the mood for her graduation ceremony. She opted out of wearing her cap and sitting with the other kids. Instead she sat with Daddy and was in near tears the whole time. She gets so anxious about these sorts of things!

Jessica was thrilled to wear Emily's cap!

Poems and stories

At the end of the ceremony, the students received their diplomas and walked through "the enchanted forest" to reach grade one. Steve convinced Emily to go through the forest with Jessica. She finally gave a little smile after reaching the end!

Yesterday I was also busy putting the finishing touches on Emily's Save the Dates. They turned out great!

Today was Emily's last day of school! In the morning she made cards for her teachers while Steve baked some cupcakes for the class. Since Emily's birthday is in the summer, her class did her special "birthday story" and celebration today.
