Happy Birthday Daddy!

Our favourite man turned 32 today! There was no shortage of love, treats, and fun.

Working on Daddy's card the day before

"You are the bast daddy in the wold"

Grammy and Johnny came to visit last night and stayed until this afternoon. It was so nice to have family around to celebrate!

Opening gifts from G & J

This morning Daddy woke up to some more gifts and a card from his girls.

Puzzles!

Family puzzle time before school

The girls were excited to go to school this morning for their Halloween celebrations! Jessica's class got to dress up in costumes, while Emily got into the Halloween spirit by wearing orange and black.

Bye girls!

The grownups had breakfast and then headed to Lemoine's Point for a lovely Fall walk.

After the walk we met up with uncle George and cousin Clara for lunch at the Pasta Shelf.

We topped the day off with some delicious Thai Green Curry for supper. Perfection!

Happy birthday Daddy!

Déjà Vu

Here is a snapshot from this evening's play time:

If the picture looks familiar, it's because I blogged a very similar one a year and a half ago! Just a slight outfit swap...

After School

Our after school routine starts at 3:30pm when we pick the girls up from school. They come out of different doors, so Steve waits outside Emily's door and I wait for Jessica to come out of her door.

Sometimes Emily wants to play at school for a few minutes before going home. Jessica is usually too tired to play; she is content just snuggling with her mommy. I always hold my (not-so-baby) girl on our way to the car.

They like to have their stuffies waiting in the car

Checking out Jessica's new home reading book

This is the trickiest time of day -- hungry + tired girls means they fall apart pretty easily. On this day they had an argument about who gets to have the yellow stool, which ended with a tug of war, the stool crashing on the floor, and Emily crying.

They always fight over the yellow stool
(Too bad I couldn't find two!)

Sad Emily

Angry, glaring Jessica

After school snacks are a necessity!

After school activities are about the same as the before school ones (TV, Legos, colouring, games, etc). The girls might also play in the basement or their rooms.

Basement play

Once Emily and Jessica are fed and rested, they play happily together while Steve and I start supper.

Supper time!

Turkey Tacos

We rarely leave the house (as a family) on weeknights. If we do, it's for a bike ride around the neighbourhood, a quick stop at the library, or a shopping trip to the Dollar Store to spend allowance money. On this particular day we had movies/books due back at the library, so we left quickly after supper. That's probably why we don't go out often -- the outing meant that the kitchen stayed a mess and the dishes didn't get done until the next day.

Pretending to sleep

The automated book return belt is so cool!

The bedtime routine starts around 6:45pm: snacks, pyjamas, reading, tooth brushing, and snuggles. The end of a long day!

One of my least-favourite parenting activities:
brushing teeth

Jessica sometimes chooses the couch or the floor instead of her bed... Tonight it was the floor!

Have a nice sleep! ♥
