Memory Lane: Bahamas 2008

We are back to January 2008, where we travelled to the Bahamas for the annual PCA poker tournament. This was my second year going, Steve's third, and this time my parents came for their first trip to the Caribbean.

Some lovely photo ops...

... everyone excited?

We stayed in a lovely suite in the Coral Towers of Atlantis, Paradise Island. The weather was a bit chilly at the beginning of the trip, but it was still a nice change from our Canadian winter!

In pants and a sweater... but at least no winter coat!

We spent the first day touring the resort, mostly indoors.

And when the sun came out, we enjoyed it to the fullest!

Of course while we were touring, Steve was playing in the tournament. We would go visit and feed him during his breaks.

My parents thought it was pretty fascinating to watch!

Not going well?

Are you sure you're allowed to be that close, Dad??

Sadly Steve was out of the tournament after day two, but that also meant there was more time for fun in the sun! River rides, water slides, and ocean waves for all!

Can you spot me?

Near the end of the trip we all took a tour bus around the city of Nassau. Quite different from the resort!

Back at the resort, my dad knew how to have fun by dancing with the performers...

... and playing in a small ping-pong tournament.

And speaking of tournaments, yours truly was the winner of our (family) poker tournament! Steve couldn't read my poker face. Ha!

Book List #2

In August last year I posted a list of all the books I'd read so far through my book club. I read 13 books in a year and a half. Since then I've read 17 (!!!) books -- 8 for book club and 9 just for fun. Here is my list, for record keeping and in case anyone wants to discuss the ones I've read.

For book club:

For fun:

(I couldn't read Just One Day but not read the next two books in the series... cliff hanger!)

And now currently on my Kobo:

I'm a lean mean reading machine, and loving every minute of it!
