Tomato Pickin'
Emily's hard work has paid off -- we've been enjoying some homegrown beans, lettuces, tomatoes, and cucumbers this summer. Although my cucumber plants aren't producing as much as I expected, my tomato plants are going wild! We have a daily supply of sweet, juicy tomatoes here in Nathalieland.

Interview with (2-Year-Old) Emily
Nathalieland: Happy birthday Emily! How old are you now?
Emily: "TWO!"
N: Let's see just how much you've changed over the past 20 months...
N: You sure have grown. Did you have fun at your birthday party?
E: Yes! I loved seeing Elmo everywhere, opening my presents (complete with "oooh... ahhh" sounds as I opened them), and eating some yummy food. I enjoyed seeing my cupcake and picking it out (Elmo!), but I didn't really care to eat it. I also didn't want candles or the birthday song...
N: Oh well, maybe next year! A reader noticed you were wearing a black tuque in one of the pictures from your birthday post. Care to elaborate?
E: Oh yes, that's my "Hat... Bak" (black hat). It's Daddy's tuque. I tried it on one day and loved it so much that I decided to wear it around the house. Now I wear it regularly, especially when playing in the basement.
N: You're too funny. So what else is new this month?
E: As of this month I permanently say "Mommy" and "Daddy" instead of "Mama" and "Dada". They think it's pretty cute. I also understand the numbers one and two and love to point out when there are "two!" of something and when there's only "wahn!" left.
N: That's great! Maybe you'll learn to add 3-digit numbers by the age of three, just like your Daddy!
E: Haha, yeah right.
N: I hear you were a sick little girl this month. Tell me about your experience.
E: I had strep. My throat was so sore that I couldn't eat anything. The next day Mommy and Daddy took me to the doctor and I really didn't like that. It was tough, and I have to say that the whole experience really changed me.
N: In what way?
E: In small ways, like I'm pickier with food, I don't want to bake anymore, and I don't enjoy going to the park like I used to. Really I've become a huge homebody and it's much harder to get me out of the house (although I almost always enjoy the outing once we do get out). I'm also totally over watching my Caspar Babypants and Elmo videos... All I want to do is watch home videos of myself and my family!
N: Strange, but maybe you're just growing and changing. So like I mentioned before, our monthly interviews end here, Emily. Perhaps we can see each other again every once in a while, say in 6 months?
E: Sounds great! I'll see you then.
