Daddy's 36th Birthday!

Steve/Daddy/Feebs turned 36 today! We hosted a little family gathering on Sunday, which included celebrating uncle Albert's September birthday too.

We even took the opportunity to update our big family portrait (which is getting easier to take as the years go by!):

Today started nice and early with the kids making Daddy's card and wrapping his present -- just a little last minute.

Playing his new game Super Mario 3D World

Steve was busy all day with piano practice, rock climbing, lunch with his wife, a piano lesson, and the first day of his new Chess Club at the girls' school.

Counting the pieces to make sure he didn't lose any

Meanwhile I gutted some pumpkins in preparation for tomorrow...

The rest of the day was business as usual, with the exception of a birthday song and some dark-chocolate tart for dessert.

Happy Birthday Daddy!
LOVE! xo

Going Gray

I found my first gray hair at the age of 19 and started dyeing my hair by the time I was 25. And now, 11 years later, I've had the sudden desire to ditch the dye and embrace the silver! I'm not even sure what brought on the desire, but what I do know is that I'm curious to see what it looks like, excited about the change, and happy to see my 'true hair colour' growing in.

My last dye appointment was on August 22, 2019. And just for fun, I found pictures of my very first dye appointment on April 2, 2008:

(Oh that young face!)

(The gray hairs were underneath)

It starts...

It's funny to me how my views have suddenly changed. Where I used to think "Oh I have to hide these" I now say "Look at how cool that looks. This is me!" Let's see how it goes!

Meet the Wheel - Pottery Workshop

As a birthday gift for my mom, my sister and I signed us all up for a Meet the Wheel pottery workshop at Amaranth Stoneware in Kingston. It's a one-time, two-hour class that introduces people to the pottery wheel. I figured since my mom is near retirement, it would be fun to start introducing her to new crafts and hobbies! Our class was yesterday afternoon.

Watching a demo (very cool!)

Nice to meet you, wheel

 Cleaning our tools

We all got to work on four pieces of pottery during the two-hour class. It was a good mixture of funny, frustrating, interesting, and messy! My mom doesn't think pottery will become a new hobby, but at least she came out and tried! I had fun and could definitely picture myself trying it again (though I'm not quite sure what use I would have for all those bowls/cups/plates/etc).

The shop itself is cute and well laid out. It was neat to walk through it and see all the different items that were made.

Thanks for the workshop, Amaranth Stoneware!
